Are there any classic holiday movies or TV shows that you look forward to watching year after year? What are your all-time favorites? Are there any you simply can't stand?
Every year TNT does an all day event of "A Christmas Story". We plan out TV on that and don't move it all day!

My favorite special, which I can never find and no one seems to know, is "The Stingiest Man In Town", It's a Christmas Carol done by Rankin Bass, those holiday experts, and tells the story to children through the eyes of a Humbug. It has some of the best songs like, "Yes There Is A Santa Clause" and "Listen To The Song Of The Christmas Spirit". I finally found it on DVD, but it is in a HOliday package of other Rankin Bass classics and it's $30! I like the other ones on it too(well except for Frosty The Snow Man, I can't stand that one), but I can't bring myself to spend $30 even if it is 10 shows and well worth it. Oh well.

As I mentioned above I don't like Frosty The Snow Man, I really don't like snowmen in general. I also can do without holiday classics that everyone loves, Miracle On 34th St., It's A Wonderful Life, and most Dickens versions....well except the Muppets version and Mickeys(I'm not that crazy).

"Listen to the song of the Christmas spirit,
can't you hear it, can't you hear it.
Listen to the song of the Christmas spirit,
ringing in the air."

We keep A Christmas Story on all day on Christmas too :) I love falling asleep to it on Christmas Eve.

Muuuuuuppets! XD <3 <3 <3

Lol, glad to know I'm not the only one. I was okay with most Christmas specials until social nuances of genders started coming through. Maybe I'd accept more of them now that I'm older, but ones like It's a Wonderful Life had a few things that sorta rubbed me the wrong way as a kid. Like the whole shock and horror part that if the guy hadn't been born, his wife would be a single librarian. As a kid, all I could think was, "is being a librarian that bad?" and "but she's really pretty! She probably just would have just met someone else! This doesn't make sense!"

I'm generally a bit of a humbug though ;)
